Surf & Sand Baby Showers for Bonafide Beach Bums
Looking for the perfect theme for your baby shower? If you’re a bonafide beach bum who worships the ocean, why not celebrate with a Surf & Sand Baby Shower? After all, if you’ve ever seen a little baby frolicking naked on the beach, you know that it’s one of the world’s cutest wonders.
Perfect for an al fresco celebration in the summer months (or as a wishful indoor escape during subzero temps!), everyone will have a blast at your beach-inspired bash. We’ve searched Pinterest for party inspo, and here are some of our faves:
This party was all about the beachy elements – from the color scheme to the treats! Check out these surfboard cookies and pineapple upside down cakes.
What a stunning ombre cake!
I can almost feel the ocean breeze just by looking at these. I bet they served something slushy with pineapples and coconut. Possibly rum.
Guests were given personalized bags to fill with goodies…
… from The Favor Station! Goodies included sun block, nail polish, and SPF lip balm.
You could find pops of coral all over – like in this adorable coral seahorse invitation – as an homage to baby Coraline.
What a cake! Fortunately, that’s not real sand – it’s pumpkin spice!
Here’s a vintage ship’s wheel re-purposed as a party centerpiece. The best part – it totally fit right in with the baby’s beach-inspired nursery.
In lieu of a traditional guest book, guests wrote messages and put them in a large glass bottle. (Being the klutz that I am, I would have accidentally put my note in one of the smaller decorative bottles, forcing the hosts to break them and deal with shattered glass. Sorry in advance.)
Here’s a watermelon sailboat, proving that not everything healthy needs to look like rotten goo. (I’m looking at you, spinach… and kombucha.)
Baby Ryan sure is a lucky boy! He and his mom were honored with a super fun Baby on (Surf)Board Shower.
Beachy treats included frosted surfboard cookies and an ombre ocean cake… with a sprinkle of what looks like real sand, for authenticity.
Tables were decked out with nautical decor. The netting down the center is a nice touch, and the diaper sailboats are a cute (and practical!) DIY.
… But really, who needs nicely decorated tables when you have a view like this?
I swear, when I was a little girl, I dreamed of This. Exact. Cake.

Would you look at the girl on that topper?
Sweet and refreshing!
As if this celebration couldn’t get any more perfect, Kenna put together mini beach bags filled with sunscreen, gum, sanitizer, sand (just because), and a drink umbrella. How’s that for a party favor?
