5 Beauty Products that Fake a Good Night's Sleep
One telltale sign of being a new mom? Looking pretty darn haggard. You didn't just bring home your little bundle of joy from the hospital – you also signed away your right to a decent night’s sleep, trading it for years of dark circles, under-eye bags, and a dull complexion.
While sleep training your little one may take some time, a few beauty products can give you instant gratification:
Spritzing on these concoctions of essential oils and natural ingredients after cleansing keeps your face supple and hydrated. They tighten pores and allow moisturizers and creams to really sink in and work their magic! You can even spray them on after applying makeup for a bit of a glow.
Try Caudalie's Beauty Elixir for a luxurious treat. It contains bitter orange flower water, rosemary leaf oil, peppermint oil, balm mint leaf oil, and grape fruit extract.
Want something a bit lighter? Try Glossier's Soothing Face Mist. With rosewater, aloe, and glycerin, it's super gentle, moisturizing, and smells absolutely heavenly! Keep it in your purse and spray it on throughout the day. It's the perfect pick-me-up, especially during the summer!
BB Cream and Tinted Moisturizers with SPF
As a mom strapped for time, the last thing you want is an 500-step beauty routine. Dual or multipurpose products are an absolute godsend! BB creams (beauty balm/blemish balm) offer many benefits: moisturization, coverage, and sun protection. They even out complexions and blur imperfections without being too heavy and cake-y. Because they're pretty sheer, you don't have to be too careful with it– just use your fingers!
Korean favorite Dr. Jart Premium Beauty Balm has SPF 45 and is formulated with bio-peptide complex to provide anti-aging properties and boost natural collagen.
If you want something a bit easier on the pocket, try Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream. It contains zero oils or heavy ingredients, and comes with SPF 30. You can stock up on these at any drugstore.
Lip and Cheek Tint
Pick up a lip and cheek tint to add a bit of color to your face. These 2-in-1 products come in different formulas, such as liquid, gel, or cream.
Liquid tints are the longest-lasting, but are trickiest to apply. Be quick with your application and blend, blend, blend! Benefit Benetint is the top-seller. It's rose-tinted and comes in a cute glass bottle and a brush (similar to nail polish).
Gel blushes are a bit more sheer, making them fool-proof. We love Dior's Lip and Cheek Glow, which come in a gorgeous pink that adjusts to your skin tone.
Creams are great because they're non-drying, pigmented, and blendable. You can apply it sheer, or layer it on for a bolder look. We love Stila Convertible Color – it comes in a ton of lovely shades, with Petunia (a coral peach) being our favorite.
Highlighters and Luminizers
If you want to look well-rested, grab a highlighter or luminizer. Whichever one you choose, avoid anything with chunky glitter. You want to look fresh-faced, not like a disco ball!
The best highlighters are creamy, shimmery, and come in stick form. Try Benefit's Watt's Up! for a lovely champagne color, or NARS The Multiple in Copacabana for a pearly look. Blend some on your cheekbones, down the bridge of your nose, on the inner corner of your eyes, and on your cupid's bow.
You could also get an all-over glow by mixing a few drops of liquid luminizer with your moisturizer or foundation. Try Josie Maran's Illuminizer, which is formulated with Argan oil and other flower-derived ingredients to brighten and even your skin tone.
You could also try Revlon's PhotoReady Skinlights Face Illuminator for a fraction of the cost. Get it in Bronze Light for a sun-kissed, post-vacation glow.
Mascara is a must if you want to look fresh and bright-eyed (even though you're dead inside). Skip the waterproof formulas that can leave your eyes irritated and are a pain to take off at night. Go for wands that "lengthen" and "thicken"... but try to avoid anything too dramatic. Avoid clumps by wiping off the spool before application.
